When Alternatives, Inc. was founded in 1979, it was a pioneer in special needs services. Alternatives provided an option for people with developmental disabilities to move away from institutional living and move into their own place in the community.

Through the years, the agency has developed into much more. Today the agency serves people with a wide range of cognitive and physical disabilities, as well as homeless individuals and families and others with special needs. We have matured into an organization with a dedication to providing each person with a broad range of support and services to assist them in achieving their goals and enhancing their quality of life in their own communities throughout the greater central New Jersey area.
