Investors Savings Bank Foundation Teams-up with Alternatives Inc. to Renovate Piscataway Property for Affordable Housing
‘Welfare to Work’ Home Needs $75,000 Upgrade that was Not Budgeted
RARITAN, N.J., September 7, 2010 – The Investors Savings Bank Foundation recently came to the aid of Alternatives, Inc. to help renovate a property that provides affordable housing for families with low income from the State’s Welfare to Work Program. It is the only program of its kind in central New Jersey.
Although this renovation was not budgeted, the need was so great that Alternatives decided to move ahead with the project. Through the help of the Investors Savings Bank Foundation and other donors, Alternatives has raised $21,500 for the renovation. Other donors for the project include PSE&G Foundation and Somerset Savings Bank. Additionally, to help save on costs, Sincox Associated donated architectural plans and the Alternatives executive team performed the demolition of this project.
“We are committed to providing affordable housing,” said, Nancy Good, President of Alternatives, Inc. “and we are so grateful that the Investors Savings Bank Foundation shares our commitment and demonstrates their generosity in the community.”
Alternatives, Inc. is a regional non-profit social service agency for people with a wide range of special needs, including those in need of housing assistance. The Piscataway home provides two subsidized housing units for low-income families that meet state qualifications for housing assistance.
The property is managed by Alternatives subsidiary, the ADTI Housing Corporation, which has developed over 100 units of affordable housing while providing comprehensive property and facilities management for ongoing operation of the projects.
